I just finished watching the Chaffetz/Spencer debate. Jason is so prepared for Congress, it is simply magical. Answers just rolled out without pause, almost as if he had a cue card or teleprompter. The most comical part, when I practically fell out of my chair, was when Spencer interrupted the moderator and proudly announced, “I’m against nuclear!” It seemed as if he was trying to say anything to get some air time. Of course the unexpected blurt-out required some inquiry by the moderator. He [Spencer] was forced to explain what he meant, and he explained he was against putting a nuclear plant within Utah boundaries, not necessarily that he was against nuclear. No thanks Mr. Spencer. You are a nice guy and all, but with presentations like that we will never get anything done in DC. Please step aside, it is Jason’s turn.

I had the pleasure of spending a few minutes chatting with the Jason Chaffetz campaign manager this evening. During the conversation I expressed what a marvel it is to participate in such a magnificent grass roots effort. Let me give you another reason why…

Tonight, I reviewed the financial disclosure of the campaign and it reveals to the public the real campaign story behind the scenes. Through October 15th, Friends of Jason Chaffetz had raised $391,455.91. Of this amount $243,441.81 was contributed by individuals — that is over 62%. Normal campaigns are heavily weighted to contributions coming from PACs and political parties, whereas this time around we have a candidate who is listening to the people. Contributions to his campaign reflect this fact. I, as one of the many contributors, am grateful Jason has been wise (and frugal) with his campaign expenditures. What a relief it is to yet again have a fiscal conservative among us! Go Jason!

Only 12 days to go to election day. I find it amusing to see the hordes of folks nationwide getting out to vote, the electricity is fascinating! In reviewing the economic condition in which we find ourselves today, I further respect Jason Chaffetz’ call to Congress to become fiscally responsible. Neither the Republicans nor Democrats in Congress over the last 8 years or so have acted responsibly with our hard-earned money and it’s time for someone to stand in Congress. It is time to take us from failure to success and I firmly believe Jason is the real voice that will be heard in the Capitol. I call on Utah’s 3rd Congressional District votes to vote for Jason!

I am tired of hearing politicians (McCain, Obama, others) using the phrase “flip-flop.” The phrase is used all too often by the mainstream media to simply express a change of opinion. A flip-flop is not just a change of opinion! Rather, a flip-flop is changing your mind and then changing back to your original opinion. As a voter I would hope any elected official would have the courage to change his/her opinion based on newfound learning. Otherwise there would be no point in communicating with our elected representatives.

I reside in the 3rd District and my choice is Jason Chaffetz as a solid leader who I believe will represent us well! Take some time and review who will be the best candidate for you! Only two weeks to election day!!

I wrote on this topic a while back, but wanted to bring it up again. Notwithstanding the woes on Wall Street, the American Dollar is again finding its foothold. Sure, it might be due to the fact that worldwide economies are slipping themselves, thereby elevating America’s stance among them. Regardless, we are gaining ground. Latest reports show the follwing:

It takes $0.83 to purchase a Canadian Dollar.
It takes $1.72 to purchase a British Pound.
It takes $1.34 to purchase a Euro.

The American Dollar is up around 17% against the British Pound in the last few months. This is great news! As a sidenote, last year I told my wife if the dollar ever rose in value so that it would purchase 3/4 of a British Pound we would have to plan a trip to London. Well… I might be taking that trip sooner than anticipated.

Wahoo, another endorsement for Jason… Yesterday, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) endorsed Jason Chaffetz from Utah’s 3rd Congressional District. Being a small business owner himself, Jason will do well representing the small business owners!

Just over two weeks left until election night and like clockwork I am planning to take the day off following election day. It is always a fun experience to stay up late watching the results come in across the nation. As a reminder to those who live in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District, make sure your voice is heard and get out to vote. I have heard a few disparaging comments from folks who are not planning on voting. What a disappointing thought, particularly in hearing it from folks who so strongly believe in America. Let this be a reminder to all out Utahns out there…. please make sure you take the time to vote! And with respect to Utah’s 3rd Congressional  District, may I politely suggest you vote for Jason Chaffetz? Jason Chaffetz is the conservative voice we need in DC now!
