I think an interesting analysis is in order after Super Tuesday, a review of the home states of each of the candidates of the Republican and Democratic parties. Here are the results (based on MSNBC current reporting ):

Arizona

  • McCain 47%
  • Romney 34%
  • Huckabee 9%
  • Paul 4%

Arkansas

  • Huckabee 60%
  • McCain 20%
  • Romney 14%
  • Paul 5%

Illinois

  • Obama 64%
  • Clinton 33%

Massachusetts

  • Romney 51%
  • McCain 41%
  • Huckabee 4%
  • Paul 3%

New York

  • Clinton 57%
  • Obama 40%

As expected each of the candidates won his/her respective “home” state, however I find it interesting among the Republican race how Huckabee and Romney both pulled more than 50% of their weight (split among 3 candidates), while McCain was a disappointing 47% support among his hometown folks. Now considering Arizona is a “closed” primary, meaning only registered Republicans can vote there (unlike Arkansas and Massachusetts), I find his lack of Republican support at home a strong indication of what Republicans nationwide should be considering. I also find it interesting just how much the folks in Arkansas like their hometown candidate, Mr. Huckabee. The Republican race is really becoming an interesting match.
